An initial section of the new M11 federal motorway from Moscow to St. Petersburg was opened for traffic at 10 o’clock a.m. last December 24. It starts from Festivalnaya Street and then links to Korovin and Dmitrov highways. The opening of the section of a toll road under construction provided an alternative for getting to major district centers in the northwest of Moscow Oblast, and the driving time along the country’s most traffic congested stretch of road from Moscow to the Sheremetyevo Airport, the largest Russian avia hub, will be reduced from several hours to about several minutes. It will be toll-free till July 1, 2015. Then the trip to the airport is estimated to cost 100 rubles and the driver will have to pay around 300 rubles for the entire motorway section 43.3 km long. The tariffs for passage will be adjusted to the rate of inflation, and the toll amount will also depend on the time of day, season and car type. The construction of the total motorway is to be complet
